Day 02 Chopta or Martoli
  • The trip to the camping location is 14 kilometers long, although the climbs are gentle and spread apart.
  • Take a peek at the valley from a guard tower on the far north side of the lake.
  • The route is gentle at first, then after 2 to 3 kilometers, there is an abrupt and hard rise to Jhandi summit.
  • Depending on your walking speed, the ascent might take anything from 30 minutes to an hour.
  • The picturesque Kedarnath range and Chaukhamba may be seen on your left, while lush woods can be seen on your right.
  • After about an hour of walking on the level route, you will fall to the east for 300 meters, followed by a 200-meter-long straight ascent with hillocks on both sides.
  • While trekking, look for a succession of wide grasslands that will bring you to a spot where the Changey waterfall hits the earth and where you may camp with a group of 8 to 10 people.
  • There is a concrete bridge across this creek; cross it and follow the uphill route until you reach Martoli after about an hour of walking.
  • Martoli is located around 45 minutes from the state route that links Ukhimuth to Gopeshwar.
