Overview

Kedarnath is a significant town located in the Rudraprayag district of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is renowned for its ancient Hindu temple, Kedarnath Temple, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (sacred shrines of Lord Shiva) in India. The town holds immense religious and spiritual significance for Hindus and attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the country and beyond.

  • Accessibility: Kedarnath is not easily accessible by road throughout the year due to its high altitude and challenging terrain. The last motorable point for vehicles is Sonprayag. From there, pilgrims have to either trek on foot or use mules and palanquins to reach the temple during the pilgrimage season, which generally starts in April/May and lasts until October/November.

Tour Plan

Day 01 Haridwar – Dehradun - Guptkashi

A warm welcome to the Ke Dham Yatra from Hadiwar to Kedarnath. Drive to Guptkashi and spend the night at the hotel after arriving from Haridwar with assistance from an Adiyogi official.

Day 02 The South Coast

Sonprayag drive in the morning. The trek begins from Sonprayag and goes by foot, pony, or Doli to Kedarnath (3584 meters). Members of the tour should bring their own personal medications, bulky wool clothing, toiletries, and clothing for an overnight stop at Guptkashi. enter the hotel. Visit Kedarnath Temple afterwards and spend the night there.
Gaurikund: Located 5 kilometers from Sonprayag at an elevation of 1982 meters, one can visit the Gauri Temple and have a soak in the area’s hot water pond. In order to reach Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvathi meditated here. A hike to Kedarnath starts here. Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, one of Lord Shiva’s 12 jyotirlingas, is a beautiful location set against the imposing Kedarnath range.
Lord Shiva, the destroyer and guardian, is also known by the name Kedar. Legend has it that the Pandavas felt sorry for killing their own brothers after defeating the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra War and sought Lord Shiva’s forgiveness. He constantly avoided them and sought refuge at Kedarnath as a bull while escaping. He dove beneath the ground, leaving his hump visible, when he sensed that he was being followed. Lord Shiva’s remaining components made their appearances in four further locations, where they are revered as his incarnations. At Tungnath, the arms appeared; at Rudranath, the face; at Madmaheshwar, the belly; and at Kalpeshwar, his locks (hair) with the head. Kedarnath and the four sites mentioned above are considered Panch kedar

Day 03 Kedarnath - Guptkashi

Return to Guptkashi by helicopter or track the morning after darshan. Visit a hotel for the night.

Day 4: Srinagar -Rishikesh - haridwar

You travel to Haridwar Rishikesh, a spiritual city and the world’s center for yoga, in the early morning after breakfast. When you get to Rishikesh, you’ll go touring and see Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula. to the Haridwar Railway Station, and drop off.
